Before doing shampoo massage your hair with hot oil(if you have dry hair)/hair tonic(if you have oily hair).
Remember to brush your hair well to loosen dirt before you shampoo.
Wet your hair and divide it into three divisions.You can keep the left and right divisions on your shoulders and the middle/back division on your back.Take 2/3 teaspoon of shampoo and mix it with some water,apply and then slowly massage it on your scalp.Bring the lather down to hairs till where it ends.The rule is to use more shampoo on your scalp and lesser on your hair length.The amount of shampoo you should use will depend on the length of your hair,your hair type(oily or dry) and on the shampoo you are using. Keep the shampoo on your scalp for 1/2 minutes to loosen dirt and then wash your hair well.
  Now soak your hair a little with a towel and apply wash-off conditioner only on your hair length.Gently brush your hair with your fingers to spread the conditioner evenly.Wait for 2/3 minutes and then wash off your hair with cold water.No need to use cold water on your scalp if you don't want to(for instance if you have sinus problem),just wash your hair length with it.Washing your hair with cold water will help you to get softer hair.
